A new day for Central

Congratulations to all those students, alumni, and supporters in the community on a tremendous effort over the past two years to fight for Barrie Central.   The decision by the School Board to keep the school open for five years to look for partnerships for a long-term future is great news for everyone in Barrie, as it means the other four highschools will not have be overcrowded handling Central students.   This institution is a critical part of our history and our downtown.  Also good news from the Trustees decision is that they will begin planning for a south-end highschool – Barrie’s 6th public highschool – which will be increasingly in demand as the city grows in coming years.
